萧晖荣教授，1946年生于广东潮阳华侨家庭，字谷人，工花卉，亦写山水、人物，擅写梅，喜中国美术史论，并精鉴赏。六十年代初则开始从事美术工作并发表作品。七十年代开始与朱屺瞻、刘海粟、吴作人、王蒙等中国艺坛诸多名家和学者交游，并受推崇，或有作品合作。八十年代初张大千题“书画家”相赠，1982年与当代名家周昌谷、黄幻吾联展于香港大会堂及美国图书馆，1984年朱屺瞻曾为其撰文《萧晖荣的艺术》。其中国画作品连续入选第六、七、八、九、十届“全国美术作品展”。2005至2006年曾在北京、南京、上海、西安、杭州、广州、深圳、汕头、香港、东京等十大城市举办了12次“萧晖荣中国画展”。2007年，为庆祝香港回归十周年于香港和北京再次举行13次和14次个人画展。作品入藏故宫博物院、钓鱼台国宾馆等、并为海内外知名人士如日本首相安倍晋三等收藏。现为西泠印社社员、浙江大学中国艺术研究院研究员、西安美术学院客座教授、中华人民共和国文化部文化市场发展中心艺术品评估会委员等。萧氏是一位通过长期收藏、鉴赏、交游、勤攻、悟道而登上艺术殿堂，极具大家风采之当代中国画名家。出版有《翰墨缘—萧晖荣的艺术生活》（岭南出版社出版，王蒙作序）、《中国名家精品集—萧晖荣》、《世纪画坛精英·国画编—萧晖荣》、《融古铸今—萧晖荣中国画展》（河北教育出版社）等。2007年8月应北京国际书图书博览会组委会唯一邀请，举办《萧晖荣中国画展》暨萧晖荣雕塑艺术欣赏和学术研讨会。2007年，由汕头电视台摄制、中国科学文化音像出版社出版的《中国著名画家萧晖荣——大师路上的追求》大型电视文艺专题片在海内外发行。

Introduction to Mr. Xiao Huirong—a famous contemporary painter in China

　　Professor Xiao Huirong, styling himself Guren, was born in an overseas Chinese family in Chaoyang, Guangdong Province in 1946. Starting work as a painter and publishing works in early 1960s, he has gradually become an expert in painting flowers, plum blossom in particular, and also depicts landscape and figures. Having both extensive knowledge and interest in the history of Chinese fine arts, professor Xiao is a renowned connoisseur. Since 1970s, he jointly created many works with some celebrities and scholars in Chinese art circle, like Zhu Qizhan, Liu Haisu, Wu Zuoren and Wang Meng, etc., from which he had earned high esteem. In early 1980s, famous calligrapher Zhang Daqian inscribed characters “Shu Hua Jia” (Great Painter and Calligrapher) to him, and Zhu Qizhan wrote an essay called Xiao Huirong’s Art in 1984. Also, Professor Xiao held a co-exhibition with famous contemporary artists Zhou Changgu and Huang Huanwu in Hong Kong City Hall and America’s Library. Some of his traditional Chinese paintings have been selected and displayed in 6th – 10th National Art Exhibition successively. From 2005-2006, he has held 12 Xiao Huirong Traditional Chinese Painting Exhibitions in ten major cities including Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, Xi’an, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shantou, Hong Kong, and Tokyo. To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Hong Kong Handover, he held 13 and 14 painting shows in Hong Kong and Beijing respectively in 2007. Some of his masterpieces have been collected in the Palace Museum, Diaoyutai State Guesthouse and by some celebrities at home and abroad, such as the former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Currently, Xiao Huirong works as member of Xiling Engravers Society, researcher of Chinese Art Institute of Zhejiang University, visiting professor at Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts, and member of Art Ware Appraisal Committee of Ministry of Culture of PRC. Through learning from collections, appreciating art wares, exchanging ideas with art masters, and working diligently, Xiao Huirong has grown into a great painter in contemporary China. He has published many books about fine arts, including Love for Painting and Calligraphy—Xiao Huirong’s Art Life (published by Lingnan Publishing House and prefaced by Wang Meng), A Selection of Famous Chinese Painters’ Works—Volume: Xiao Huirong, Painting Masters in 21st Century---Traditional Chinese Paintings by Xiao Huirong, Integrating Ancient and Modern—Xiao Huirong’s Traditional Chinese Painting Exhibition (published by Hebei Educational Press). In August 2007, at the exclusive invitation by the Organization Committee of Beijing International Book Fair, he held Xiao Huirong Traditional Chinese Painting Exhibition as well as Appreciation and Seminar of Xiao Huirong’s Sculptural Art. Also in 2007, Pursuit of the Master-Xiao Huirong, a large TV program on arts photographed by Shantou TV Station and published by Chinese Science and Culture Audio -Visual Press, has been distributed at home and abroad.
