Gu Gang, born in Jilin Province in 1942, graduated from the oil-painting post-graduate class in the Central Art Academy in 1980. Now he is a member of the Chinese Artists Association, vie-chairman of the Dalian Art Association, and a professor and the dean of the Art Dept. in Liaoning Normal University.

His oil-paintings composed over several years have been exhibited in the National Art Exhibition, the National Art Exhibition in Commemoration of the Founding of the PLA, the National Art Exhibition in Commemoration of the Founding of the CCP, China¡¯s First Oil-Painting Exhibition, the 100th Anniversary Exhibition of Chinese Oil-Paintings and Portraits, the National Exhibition of Landscapes, and the recently closed Ninth National Art Exhibition. Some of his works have won prizes and been collected by the Chinese Fine Art Gallery. He published a book entitled Portrait Oil Painting.
