Liao Gang, born in Dalian in November, 1958, from Guiyang in Hunan Province, was assigned to Zhao Wu Da League in Inner Mongolia in 1977, was admitted to the Art Class in Dalian Normal School in 1979, and graduated from Luxun Fine Art Academy in Shenyang in 1987. Now he is the director and associate professor of the Basic Dept. in the Art Design Institute in Dalian Light Industry College. He is a member of the Liaoning Artist Association.

His first personal oil-painting exhibition was held in Dalian in April, 1995.

He held his personal oil-painting exhibition of Bare Mountain Series in Niigata, Japan, in January, 1997.

His artistic works have been displayed in many large exhibitions both at home and abroad, published and introduced by specialized publications at home and abroad. Many of his works have been collected by some international friends from America, Japan and South Korea. His major works include Married Daughter Visiting Her Maiden Home, Morning, New Home, Praying, The Tibetan Youth with Tibetan Buffalo, The Tibetan Girl with Praying Board, Bare Mountains, Boat, Mongolian Wagons, etc.
